Photography Experience
As retirement approached I decided that photography would be a good hobby as you can never learn enough about taking a good image nor how to post process it. You are always learning. So, in 2013 I joined the Castle Hill RSL Photography Club and have become the Competition Coordinator, a position I still hold. In late 2017 I joined The Entrance Camera Club and have enjoyed the friendships and outings. Through both clubs I have gained lots of experience and assistance and have gravitated from B grade through to now entering National and International competitions.
Areas of interest
I like bird photography. There are opportunities near Sydney but the Central Coast provides more. Sports/action is another interest with rodeos and whitewater kayaking. Portraits are not my highest interest but I have been making some progress there.
Favourite Equipment
For birding I have a Nikon D500 with a 200-500mm Nikkor lens. For portraits and landscapes and so on I have a Nikon D850 with a variety of lens depending on the shoot. I have a mirrorless Olympus OM5 Mark II that I am coming to terms with.
Computer Stuff
I use Photoshop CC, often with Nik, as each image generally needs to be processed uniquely. Lightroom is used for bulk updates when there is some similarity of exposure.
Other info
I am also a member of the Castle Hill RSL Photography Club. I have found the friendships and photographic opportunities with The Entrance CC has helped me to raise my photography to new levels.
